Learn About Peterborough’s History

Visit Lang Pioneer Village Museum and experience what it was like to live and trade as a settler in the 1800s. Explore the original buildings from the 19th century like Lang Grist Mill, and the S.W. Lowry Weaver Shop.  The village also holds special events like the Annual Father’s Day Smoke & Steam Show (June 19th) where visitors can ride tractors and wagons and play games. Escape the Maze

Escape Maze offers unique challenges for you and your family. The games are created to take you back to the gold rush days and work through puzzles, riddles and games to complete the mission. There are many maze options for different ages. These challenges usually take around 90 minutes to complete and take place outside so make sure accordingly. Meet an Alpaca!

Wanderlight Alpaca Experience gives participants a chance to spend 60 minutes with an alpaca. Every alpaca has its own personality and you get a chance to pick the one you want to bond with. Your private experience with begin with introductions as you learn more about these gentle animals. Once you select your companion you will walk and spend time with him.  The price for adults (age 13 and up) is $35, youth (6-12) is $25 and child (2-6) is $10. Become a Beekeeper!

Tour the Hunnabees apiary and experience what it’s like to be a beekeeper. Learn about honeybee biology, colony jobs, honey production and pollination. Guests will get the chance to handle beekeeping equipment, smoke a hive, hold a frame of honeybees or honey and more! Each participant will get a photo of them and the honey frame! The price is $56.25 for adults and children over 12 years old, children under 12 are free! You can also buy fresh honey and other sweets directly from the farm. Visit the Zoo!

Riverview Park & Zoo is located 20 minutes from the cottage and has over 150 animals and 40 species. This zoo is the only free admission accredited zoo in Canada! You can also catch a ride on the Miniature Train Ride, running 2 km long and taking about 10 minutes to complete. The cost is $2 per person and children 2 and under ride the train for free. There is also a splash pad at the park to cool off during your visit. It’s open during the summer season between 8:30 am and 7:30 pm and features dumping buckets, water cannons and geysers.
